TECNO showcases borderless smartphone concept at Berlin technology exhibition

TECNO showcased its latest smartphones, laptops and connected devices at IFA ShowStoppers 2026 in Berlin.

TECNO has showcased a concept smartphone featuring a display with what it describes as an industry-first 0mm border, in a development aimed at eliminating the visible black edges between a phone’s screen and outer frame.

The Next-Gen Bezelless Concept Phone was among the technologies displayed by the company at IFA ShowStoppers 2026 in Berlin, Germany, alongside new laptops, smartphones and other connected devices.

TECNO said achieving the borderless appearance required a redesign of the device’s display architecture, incorporating advanced internal stacking, structural engineering and new screen-packaging techniques.

The company said the development seeks to create a more immersive viewing experience by allowing the active display to extend visually to the edges of the handset.

According to TECNO, the concept brings together several technologies covering the display, camera integration, touch sensitivity, sound, structural design and user-interface interaction.

The company said lessons and technologies developed through the concept could be applied to future generations of its smartphones.

Despite the technological development showcased in Berlin, TECNO said the device remains a concept and is not currently available for purchase.

It has also not announced a commercial release date or confirmed the markets in which the handset could eventually be sold.

The exhibition also provided a platform for TECNO to showcase its latest laptop designs, including the MEGABOOK T15 360 Series, which marks the company’s entry into laptops featuring a 360-degree hinge and touchscreen functionality.

The series comprises the MEGABOOK T15 360 and T15 360 Pro, both fitted with 15.6-inch touchscreens and capable of operating in laptop, tablet, tent and stand modes.

TECNO said the Pro model comes with a 2.5K 120Hz display and 100 per cent sRGB colour coverage.

Other computers showcased included the MEGABOOK K15S WCL, designed with students and early-career professionals in mind, and the MEGABOOK T17 Ultra, which features a 17.3-inch display and is aimed at users requiring larger screens and higher processing capabilities.

The company also used the Berlin event to display the POVA 8 Pro 5G Tonino Lamborghini Limited Edition and CAMON Slim 5G smartphones.

The POVA 8 Pro 5G incorporates the MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Ultimate 5G platform, TECNO’s P1 Graphic Chip and a 5K IceShield Vapor Chamber Cooling System.

The CAMON Slim 5G, meanwhile, is positioned around mobile photography and artificial intelligence capabilities and has a 6.39mm-thin body.

TECNO said the devices and technologies unveiled at the exhibition respond to changing consumer needs, including the use of technology for work, learning, content creation and entertainment.

For the Kenyan market, the company said it had not yet finalised prices, launch dates or retail availability for the products showcased in Berlin.

“Kenya-specific prices, launch dates and retail availability have not been confirmed,” the company said, adding that it would issue separate communication once details for the local market had been finalised.

The IFA showcase comes as technology manufacturers increasingly explore new display architectures, flexible device designs and artificial intelligence-enabled features as they seek to develop new smartphone and computing experiences.
